This series explores how the landscape reflects our greedy desire for power generation. Lusatia has subsoil rich in brown coal and the expanding coal mine threatens villages and its residents to relocation. The locals are forced to
abandon their houses, their memories and family history in the prey of the massive strip mines. The people live in uncertainty for their future, land has lost any value and there are no investments in the region that could abate the
high unemployment rates. The opencast coal mine overshadows every aspect of life in Lusatia.
The area has been significantly shaped by lignite mining industry since hundreds of years.
